The Double Semester is our most comprehensive package. One price covers TEFL training, 20 weeks of Spanish, the SIELE exam, work experience, visa support, accommodation, and eight day-trips.
Trinity CertTESOL — 4 weeks
The gold-standard TEFL qualification, recognised worldwide. 160 contact hours including real classroom teaching practice. Timetable: 09:30–18:30.
Spanish Classes — 20 weeks
10 hours of Spanish classes per week at Iberia Language Academy — a sustained immersion over 20 weeks that takes you to genuine fluency. All levels welcome.
Accommodation — 24 weeks
Your own room in a shared apartment with other students. Fully equipped, all bills included, within 30 minutes of school. Resident assistant in each flat.
Orientation Week
Survival Spanish lessons in the mornings, cultural activities in the afternoons. Meet your fellow students and learn to navigate the city.
8 Weekend Day-Trips
Eight organised excursions to destinations around Catalunya and beyond — the most of any program. From mountain villages to Mediterranean beaches, every trip is an adventure.
SIELE Spanish Exam
Preparation and sitting of the internationally recognised SIELE Spanish language exam — proof of your Spanish level for employers and universities worldwide.
8 Weeks Work Experience
Teach English to real students at Iberia Language Academy — 3 hours per week over 8 weeks. Supervised by senior tutors, this gives you genuine classroom experience on your CV.
Visa & Bureaucracy Support
Full support navigating the Spanish student visa process — required for non-EU students staying more than 90 days. Our team guides you through every step.
Airport Pickup
Our team meets you at Barcelona airport on arrival day and helps you settle into your accommodation. No stressful first day navigating alone.

What does a typical week look like?
Your 24 weeks are the most comprehensive gap year experience we offer — from arrival through TEFL training, Spanish immersion, work experience, and the SIELE exam.
Arrival & Orientation
You arrive on Sunday and our team picks you up from the airport. During the first week you'll take part in our orientation program — practical "survival Spanish" lessons in the mornings to help you navigate daily life, followed by cultural activities in the afternoons. You'll meet your fellow students and get to know the school and neighbourhood.
Trinity CertTESOL Course
Four intensive weeks of teacher training. The timetable runs 09:30–18:30 and combines workshops, lesson preparation, and supervised teaching practice with real English learners. You'll finish fully qualified and ready to teach.

Spanish, Work Experience & SIELE
Twenty weeks of Spanish classes at 10 hours per week — a sustained immersion that builds genuine fluency. Alongside this, you'll teach English at Iberia Language Academy for 3 hours per week over 8 weeks, supervised by senior tutors. The program includes SIELE exam preparation and sitting. Eight organised day-trips around Catalunya are spread throughout. Non-EU students receive full visa support.
Earn US College Credits
Make your gap year count even more academically by adding our Life Skills Foundation Course — an optional online program you complete alongside your time in Barcelona.
Life Skills Foundation Course
Up to 9 US college credits, earned entirely online alongside your gap year. Flexible, practical, and assessed through projects — no exams.
2026-2028 Double Semester dates

Who takes the Double Semester Program?
The Double Semester Program is designed for students aged 18–22 who want to spend a meaningful six months abroad — gaining a real qualification, building Spanish to a serious level, and having the time of their life in Barcelona.
A note for parents
We understand that sending your son or daughter abroad — often for the first time — requires trust. TEFL Iberia has been running structured gap year programs in Barcelona since 2012. Every student arrives to a team that knows them by name.
